ASU to Host TEDx Event on ‘Alternative Talent Development’

The global concept of TED Talks is coming to the River Region this month, when Alabama State University hosts the TEDxRiverRegion event, featuring a dynamic lineup of speakers who will cover topics such as entrepreneurship, diversity training, innovative work environments and more.

TEDx events are local, community-organized versions of TED Talks, which feature award-winning video conferences presented around the world and exploring the areas of technology, entertainment and design. Speakers share discussions and presentations on a variety of topics in the name of the TED organization’s slogan, “ideas worth spreading.”

The TEDxRiverRegion event will focus on “alternative talent development” and how the concept is being used to make the River Region a better place to live, work, play, worship and grow. TEDxRiverRegion will feature a live session, a viewing of a TEDx video and entertainment provided by students from Montgomery’s Booker T. Washington Magnet High School.

The event will be held on Jan. 23 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the ballroom of J. Garrick Hardy Student Center. Admission is $20, and there will only be 100 spots available.
